Endowment for the position of Vice President of Learning and Interpretation.

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) seeks a Challenge Grant of $500,000 to be matched with $1,500,000 in private contributions to endow the position of Vice President of Learning and Interpretation. The DIA is one of the country's most significant museums and is recognized as a leader in museum interpretation. The DIA used the reinstallation of its galleries to make a "visitor-centered" museum that now prides itself on its community support and interest. Last year, over 60,000 school-children and 600,000 individuals visited the museum. The mission of the DIA is to "Create experiences that help each visitor find personal meaning in art." Endowing the position of Vice President of Learning and Interpretation ensures the DIA will be able to continue its important, innovative and award-winning work.
