To support the collaboration of University of Michigan, Dearborn and The Henry Ford Museum-Greenfield Village on a Bicentennial Program: A Course in American Civilization, 1865-1914. The course will be a cross-disciplinary study of the growth and development of the humanities in their original context of a predominantly agricultural and rural society, and will emphasize both how the humanities reacted to this context and, in fact, fed upon it.
