To write a monograph on the problem of image worship in Byzantium, concentrating on the reign of the Emperor Constantine V (741-75). The subject of Byzantine iconoclasm is crucial for an accurate historical understanding of Greek Orthodox Christianity, but it has not yet received all the scholarly attention it deserves.
