To study the emergence of a law of jury control in the history of the Anglo-American legal system. Grantee is investigating the reception of the Anglo-American jury in European law in order to gain a point of perspective on the choices which were being made in our law. In the century and a quarter from the English Restoration to the American federal and state constitutions, the Anglo-American jury system acquired the characteristics now familiar to us.
