To do an analysis of the era of vacuum tube technology. PI has written a book-length study (1976) about technological change in the earliest days of radio. Attention will be focused on the interactions between science, technology, and economics; but more explicit consideration will be given to the institutionalization of these interactions in large corporate organizations such as RCA and to the role of government. Three article-length publications are expected to result from this study.
