To examine the reciprocity of the "colonial" macro-structural economic situation of Indian tribes and their developing sense of ethnic separateness in the face of outside demands for their mineral resources Research aims at exploration of the persistence of Native American culture as a function of contemporary situations, particularly the subordinate position of tribes as "internal colonies."
