To conduct a seminar with an interdisciplinary approach to the major prose and graphic fictions of 18th century England: in the novels of Defoe, Fielding, Sterne, and Smollett; the biographies and histories of Johnson, Boswell, Hume, and Gibbon; and the paintings of Hogarth, Reynolds, Stubbs, West and Copley.
