To study the tendency of French narratives of the 1950's to demonstrate an avant-grande concern with the phenomenon of writing, displacing the reciprocal relationships of reader, writer, and text while evolving through various successive transformations. The study will provide insights into the relationship of society and fiction during the past and next decades of the 20th century.
