Claudio Monteverdi and the Poetics of Mixed Representation

To begin work on a book which will deal with the theoretical foundations of mixed representation in Renaissance poetics, and with the long tradition of mixed representational works from Poliziano's Orfeo to Monteverdi's early work, in order to determine the extent to which concepts central to literary poetics crossed over into other arts. The study will point to areas of overlap and correlation in literary, pictorial and musical theory not highlighted before.
