FAIN: FT-13394-77

Bruce L. Clayton
Allegheny College (Meadville, PA 16335-3903)

To continue writing a critical biography of Randolph S. Bourne (1886-1918), an American intellectual who had made a brilliant start toward being an acclaimed social thinker and man of letters when his dissent during WWI and his untimely death marred and ended his career. PI will study writings on Bourne by his contemporaries, as well as Bourne's writings and personal papers in an effort to make a critical estimate of his writings and "place" in intellectual history, and put him in his social and intellectual context.
