To analyze women's involvement in the Turkish War of Independence (1920-23) and in recent anti-regime terrorist activities in Turkey. Two issues will be the focus: (1) the relationships between women's participation in violent conflict and subsequent sex role patterns in Turkish society, and (2) the theory which views women by nature as forces for peace.
