Egyptian Society in Late Antiquity

To produce a manuscript on "Egyptian Society in Late Antiquity," a report on the social history of Egypt in the centuries immediately preceding the Arab conquest and on the current state of scholarship on its problems. Manuscript will be published in their series Aufstieg und Niedergang der romischen Welt (The Rise and Fall of the Roman World) and should prove to be the first attempt to provide a description of Egyptian society at this time.
