Restriction of Legal Paternal Power in Renaissance Florence

FAIN: FT-13899-78

Thomas J. Kuehn
Clemson University (Clemson, SC 29634-0001)

To complete a study of emancipation and paternal power in Renaissance Florence. The ability of a father to obligate his sons on his behalf, his ability to set obligations on his heirs, and his relations with his married daughters will provide the work's focus. Material on Roman law in the 14th and 15th centuries will be consulted in order to determine the nuances of the law.
