FAIN: FT-14067-78

John Van Dyk
Unaffiliated Independent Scholar (Sioux Center, IA 51250)

To complete the first phase of the Kilvington project (Richard Kilvington was a 14th century Oxford "Calculator," whose logical work is currently being edited and interpreted), i.e., to complete the initial transcription and translation of the commentary and to determine its specific value for the intellectual history of the Late Middle Ages. A bibliographical guide will also be updated and annotated. P.I. will also complete the translation of Books I and II of Lombard's Sentences. This project will facilitate the study of the Late Middle Ages, as well as to deepen our understanding of this important transitional period in the history of western civilization.
