I am requesting support for a two-months' stay in Uruguay and Argentina to complete research for a book on women and radio in the Río de la Plata from 1930 to 1950. Uruguay was home to the first all-women’s radio station in the hemisphere during these years, and in 1940s Argentina, Eva Duarte (de Perón) emerged as one of the most effective female radio propagandists in the region. Incorporating these histories into a broader analysis of radio, gender and the public sphere during the 1930s and 1940s, this research will make important contributions to the emerging field of radio history
