Brian Horrigan (Project Director: January 2010 to January 2014)

Implementation for a traveling exhibition, a website, and public programs about Americans in the 1960s with a projected opening date of October 2011.

The Minnesota Historical Society (MHS) seeks support from the National Endowment for the Humanities' Chairman's Special Award program in the amount of $1,000,000 to implement The 1968 Project exhibition. In partnership with three other leading historical institutions-the Atlanta History Center, the Chicago History Museum, and the Oakland Museum of California-MHS has conducted a nationwide search for stories, images and objects that illuminate the great and small events of 1968. Products of this documentary project will include a travelling exhibition, a Website, and public and educational programs. The budget for the exhibition, estimated at $2,325,000 will be raised from a combination of public, foundation, and corporate sponsorship sources.
