Jefferson College: Interpreting the Influence of a Frontier College

FAIN: GM-10471-75

Mississippi Department of Archives and History (Jackson, MS 39205-0571)
Patricia C. Black (Project Director: September 1975 to present)

To restore Jefferson College, the first college established in the Mississippi Territory, as a Bicentennial project to show the college's influence on the intellectual and cultural development of a frontier state. A semi-permanent orientation exhibit will be designed to create a sense of socio-economic-intellectual integration that such an institution represents, and trace its influence on the development of antebellum Mississippi.
