Consultation for a regional Civil War website, guided tours, public programs, and publications concerned with the battlefields and the homefront in the border region of Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
The Catoctin Center for Regional Studies is applying to begin the planning process for a regional Civil War website and other public programs. The Mid-Atlantic region of central Maryland and surrounding area contains several of the most-visited Civil War battlefields in the country, including Gettysburg, Antietam, Harpers Ferry, and Monocacy. This project will create a website that places both the military and homefront stories of this region in context, and provides current humanities scholarship to several new public history projects, such as the new Maryland Civil War Heritage Area.
