Sheldon Peck Research and Exhibit Project

FAIN: GY-10167-73

Marianne E. Balazs
Whitney Museum of American Art (New York, NY 10021-2764)

To study a hitherto unknown 19th century itinerant portrait painter named Sheldon Peck, including researching his life and travels, locating his works, and attributing them to him on the basis of style. Sheldon Peck is an artist of great interest in terms of his unique painting style and the clearly visible evolution of his style throughout his painting career. This project is the first systematic study and compilation and identification of the artist's works, none of which are signed.
