The University Libraries seek funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities for a 14 panel exhibit celebrating the 400th Anniversary of the King James translation of the Bible. The exhibit will document the creation of this pivotal version of the Bible but will also chronicle the influence of the Bible on literature and social justice movement such as the American struggle for civil rights for all persons. Funding of $2500 would accompany the exhibit but would mainly support the attendance of one staff member to attend a mandatory conference in Washington DC about the project. Funds would also be used to support events to highlight the exhibit's presence on our campus. We will hold a minimum of five events about different Bible themes during the month of February 2012 if our application is successful.
