The purchase a machine to clean LPs and envelopes for LPs and LP covers and to hire personnel to clean and rehouse water-damaged vinyl LPs. It will also support the purchase of an air conditioner unit with dehumidification capacity as well as the repair of a display case housing memorabilia about Jose Feliciano.

The mission of the Fundación Nacional para la Cultura Popular (FNCP) is to advance understanding of Puerto Rican popular, classical, and folkloric culture. FNCP’s archives include a large collection of over 30,000 rare reel-to-reel, vinyl, VHS, and CD recordings, dating to the 1950s, in Spanish, Catalan, French, Portuguese and English. The collection includes rare videos of performances by international artists, including Marcel Marceau, Liza Minnelli, and Liberace, many of which were held at venues that no longer exist. Students, researchers, artists, and the media actively consult FNCP’s audiovisual collection. Hurricanes Maria and Irma caused severe damage to the collection due to flooding, and an extended lack of electricity caused mildew and mold growth on the materials.
