Funding supports a regional preservation field service program that provides preservation surveys, workshops, and educational materials to libraries, archives, and historical organizations in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Lyrasis proposes to provide preservation education and training, reference and information services, consultations, and disaster planning assistance to libraries, archives, and cultural heritage organizations in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, to improve their ability to preserve and provide access to information resources and collections. These institutions hold extensive and valuable collections acquired over many years to support education, research, and public programming in the humanities. Through this project, Lyrasis will increase preservation knowledge and skills among staff at cultural heritage organizations, provide support for effective preservation planning and management, strengthen local and regional preservation networks, and improve institutional and community disaster preparedness.
