Purchasing preservation boxes and materials to rehouse textiles. The collection would be rehoused in the museum's newly renovated storage area. The museum's textile collections include quilts, coverlets, and flags, dating from the 1830s, and personal clothing items such as handbags and fans.
Preserving the Ella Sharp Textile Collection, Phase II, is a textile and artifact preservation project in which 216 Level I artifacts from the museum's permanent collection are to be placed into improved collections storage according to professional practices. Phase II is a continuation of last year's Phase I project, which was successfully funded by a NEH Preservation Assistance Grant and has been completed. Phase II addresses the preservation objectives outlined and recommended as part of the museum's 1993 CAP Survey.
