Fitchburg State College (Fitchburg, MA 01420-2631)
Robert Foley (Project Director: May 2007 to December 2009)

A general preservation assessment of the Fitchburg State College's archives and manuscript collections, including the personal papers of Robert Comier and Robert Salvatore, noted authors of novels for adolescents and young adults.

The goal of this project is to have a preservation survey of the humanities collection of the Amelia V. Gallucci-Cirio Library at Fitchburg State College as a first step toward making these valuable resources more accessible to scholars and students. The focus of the analysis will be on the manuscript collections of Robert Cormier and Robert Salvatore (two major authors who have made significant contributions to their genre), the College Archives and the physical space in which they are housed. A consultant from the Northeast Document Conservation Center will be hired. the Special Collections consists of the College Archives, 10 manuscripts collections, 1,561 rare and historical books, 2,300 archival photographs and approximately 16,000 slides.
