Previous award PJ-287801-22

Digitization of 100,000 pages of Arizona newspapers published prior to 1963, with a focus on titles that ensures geographic coverage across the state’s 15 counties, while drawing attention to historical themes of environmental change, migration, and economic expansion.

The Arizona State Library, Archives & Public Records (LAPR) and the University of Arizona Libraries (UAL) will digitize newspapers that support the NEH initiative, American Tapestry: Weaving Together Past, Present, and Future; that explore connections, expansion, and migrations in Arizona as it developed from a territory to one of the fastest-growing states; and that represent cities and towns not represented in previous NDNP grants.
