To recatalogue the Historical Society's library according to the Anglo-American Code of 1967. The Society has accumulated one of the most important libraries of American history and the most important one on Pennsylvania history. Card catalogue, dating back to 1880, is inadequate, scarce pamphlet materials are not catalogued, much cataloguing is erroneous and incomplete and material is hand-written on cards that are crumbling with age. This project will make available the true richness of this nationally important library. The Society is classified as a non-profit institution.
