To prepare a descriptive list, with index, of manuscripts added to the Southern Historical Collection since the publication in June 1970 of a comprehensive Guide. The Collection, administered by the Manuscripts Department of the library of the University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill, is a major center for research. Recent acquisitions include papers of writers, politicians, and civic leaders.
