To complete field research by specialists and students at the Sardis excavation. Harvard and Cornell Universities began this mulit-disciplinary project in 1957 and have obtained results of capital importance for contacts of Mediterranean and Near Eastern cultures from 3000 B.C. to 1800 A.D.
