To support the Fourth International Verdi Congress. Scholars and professionals from all over the world exchange results of research and pool information which will be printed and made available in the archives of the Verdi Institute. This Congress will consider Verdi's influences on the evolution of American opera and operatic production, and on America's cultural development in general. The Congress should promote a beneficial interchange of ideas between the academic and the theatrical worlds of humanistic endeavor.
