To examine the role played by music, as a branch of mathematics and physics, in the scientific accomplishments of the 17th and 18th centuries in France. NEH is supporting the second phase of a three-phase project. Phase Two will concentrate on important but largely unknown archival documents relative to the activities of the French Scientific Academy before the Revolution.
