The completion and publication of volume 11 and continued work on volume 12 of a 12-volume edition of the papers of Samuel Gompers. (24 months)

The Project is collecting the papers of Samuel Gompers (1850-1924), first president of the American Federation of Labor, publishing a twelve-volume, chronologically arranged, and carefully annotated and indexed printed edition of the most important documents, and producing a comprehensive microfilm edition of previously unmicrofilmed and unpublished documents. The project has published nine volumes to date and two collections of microfilm, volume 10 is at press, and volumes 11 and 12 are in preparation. During the term of this grant, the project will publish volume 11 and finish most of the work on our final volume.
