Work toward the completion of the online archive of the works of Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758). (36 months)
The mission of the Jonathan Edwards Center and Online Archive is to produce a comprehensive digital archive of the writings of America's premier religious thinker that will serve readers and researchers, support inquiry into his life, times, and legacy, and encourage critical appraisal of his historical importance and contemporary relevance. This resource will amount to about 100,000 pages, including the 26 volumes of the Works of Jonathan Edwards plus an equivalent amount of materials never before published. Built in conformity with the most recent TEI standards, the Edwards Online Archive will feature a customized interface and provide primary sources supplemented by a full range of secondary materials, including educational modules. Furthermore, this platform will be provided to related projects, thereby forming an unprecedented, interoperable consortium of online archives in religious history.
