Abstract: Historic Cherry Hill created a partnership project with Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site and The Stephen & Harriet Myers Residence of the Underground Railroad Education Center to create thematically linked field trips. Together, the programs build a stronger understanding of New York State history and the diverse voices in our historic communities.
With concrete connections to the New York State curricula, the new programs allow upper elementary and middle school classrooms to travel to multiple historic sites in the city of Albany on the same day, saving schools’ resources and creating rich, collaborative, hands-on educational experiences.
Each historic site also created online materials and digitized documents and other artifacts to support classroom instruction. Historic Cherry Hill partnered with Consider the Source (CTS) New York (a collaborative effort between the New York State Archives and Archives Partnership Trust); CTS hosts the materials on their website, bringing primary source materials to New York State educators.
