Outreach and dissemination of recommendations from NAS’s 2018 consensus report on the integration of STEMM disciplines with the humanities and arts in higher education.

In 2018 the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NAS) released a consensus report, The Integration of the Humanities with Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Higher Education: Branches from the Same Tree. The report concludes that an emerging body of evidence suggests that integrating STEMM disciplines with the humanities and arts in higher education is associated with positive learning outcomes that may help students enter the workforce, live enriched lives, and become active and informed citizens. Because successful implementation of the ideas, strategies, and models outlines in the report is dependent upon the participation of a wide variety of stakeholders, we believe that an intensive, multi-stakeholders, strategic outreach campaign is required. We respectfully request a grant of $250,000 from NEH to support a 16-month outreach and implementation campaign.
