Expanding the Virtual Museum Experience

The retention of three jobs and the creation of one job to improve virtual access to the Daytona State College’s photography museum.

The Southeast Museum of Photography's Expanding the Virtual Museum Experience (EVME) project will focus on completing the process of cataloging and digitizing the collection and making it available through a fully searchable database as well as creating new online content to allow a robust and interactive experience for all virtual museum visitors.

Abstract: In this short video, five of the participating students of the Separate/Together exhibition of Fall 2020, Hannah Altman, Graham Fee, Amanda Cordell, Linnea Moody, and Melissa Nunez, discuss their work and thought os the Covid-19 pandemic. Faced with the uncertainty of the present these 2020 graduates speak with voices of the future. The COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic has affected us in incalculable ways. As a division of Daytona State College, the Southeast Museum of Photography is keenly aware of the impact it has had on student life. When campuses across the country closed for the Spring semester, many BFA and MFA student exhibitions were reluctantly cancelled. Seeing these graduating students have the opportunity to show the culmination of their years of hard work taken away was heartbreaking. This summer, the Southeast Museum of Photography put out an open call to any graduating students working in the medium of photography whose in-person thesis shows were canceled as a result
