To continue analysis of a survey jointly funded with N.S.F. on the role of the publishing industry in the dissemination of scholarly knowledge, including the costs of publishing, buying and storing knowledge. This grant will enable a continuation of the analysis of (1) book and journal publishing, (2) use of books and journals, (3) library collections and acquisitions, (4) abstracting and indexing services, and (5) wholesaler operations.
