One two-day conference in Fort Worth, Texas, in summer 2010 for fifty K-12 educators to integrate American art into the core curriculum of schools in the region.

Picturing Creativity and Leadership is a two-day educator conference that will focus on two themes of the American experience that are highlighted by the Picturing America poster sets -- Creativity and Leadership. Using images from the sets, presentations from prominent humanities scholars, and teacher resources, the conference will help participants understand how these themes have been explored by nineteenth- and twentieth-century American artists. These discussions will serve as a launching point for introducing educators to new and effective ways of taking the visual images and incorporating new humanities content knowledge into engaging, creative classroom lessons that build students' observation and critical thinking skills; enhance their awareness of Americans who have demonstrated these characteristics; and aid students in personally developing these traits.
