A one-day conference to be held at Wheelock College and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, to integrate Picturing America art into the elementary school classrooms of fifty educators.

The conference described in this proposal will focus on the use of Picturing America images within interdisciplinary teaching at the elementary level. Hosted by the Conservatory Lab Charter School (CLCS), this will be a one-day conference for fifty educators to be held at Wheelock College and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) on March 11, 2011. Once the participating educators from the Greater Boston area have been exposed to methods of arts analysis and integration and the MFA's resources through the conference sessions, a workshop, and a tour of the MFA's new American Wing, they will have the tools to expand their own curricula, increasing the amount of arts learning that occurs in their classrooms and, in turn, strengthening their students' academic growth and skill development significantly.
