Two two-day conferences in August 2010 at the Sumter County Cultural Commission arts complex for twenty-five high school and twenty-five middle school teachers to study the Great Migration.

Foster collaboration between public school educators and humanities scholars to explore the great migration of African Americans from the south to northern cities through the paintings of Jacob Lawrence to assist teachers in telling America's story.
