The development of an undergraduate course by two faculty members on the nature, origins, and structures of authority.

"What is Authority?" will be a humanities course with a multi-discipline approach to the study of authority in political, cultural and religious contexts. The course will explore such questions as, what is the nature of authority, what are the origins of authority, and how has authority in its many facets been experienced in its different historical-cultural contexts. Some answers to these questions will be developed in an attempt to understand contemporary structures of authority, their legitimacy, and our appropriate responses.
