We the People in Missouri: Exchanging Ideas to Rediscover our History

FAIN: BC-50193-04

Missouri Humanities Council (St. Louis, MO 63103-2269)
Michael Bouman (Project Director: March 2004 to September 2006)

"America, The Bountiful," a chautauqua program on American food traditions; exhibitions on Native American tribal societies in Missouri; and planning for a conference to assess Missouri's Teaching American History projects.

The Missouri Humanities Council proposes to offer programs associated with the goals of the NEH “We the People” initiative by providing interesting & educational opportunities to MO communities and institutions. We will use WTP funds to focus on 3 projects- 1) improved interpretation of Native American communities that once lived in the state resulting in three new exhibits at three community historical institutions; 2)expansion of our Chautauqua program; 3)a conference to share methods and results of institutions involved in improving their approach to teaching American history.
