FAIN: BC-50216-04

Hawai'i Council for the Humanities (Honolulu, HI 96816-2776)
Robert G. Buss (Project Director: May 2004 to September 2008)

Four workshops for elementary school teachers and teachers in language arts, literature and art to explore topics in American culture through history, literature, biography, art or popular culture.

The Hawai’i Council will partner with at least four educational and cultural organizations to conduct teacher workshops aimed at elementary school teachers and teachers in language arts, literature and art classes. Each workshop will explore American Heritage through history, literature, biography, art or popular culture. Images, symbols and literary and artistic expressions of American identity, ideals and values will be integrated into lesson plans and classroom activities that engage students in understanding the conflicts and milestones behind the history of democracy in America.
