Christopher Zinn (Project Director: May 2004 to September 2006)

A teacher institute on the new worlds of Lewis and Clark, and a series of short radio spots, "On Principle," to illuminate what Oregonians think about defining American principles.

$22,920 of our We the People Funds will be used to host a Teacher Institute examining Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discovery expedition; a seminal event in the history and culture of America and particularly of the Pacific Northwest.Thirty teachers will attend the institute, and take new knowledge and resources back to their classrooms, improving education for more than 3,000 students. The remaining $34,900 will be used to launch a radio program that will help Oregonians talk about principles of democracy and examine the diversity of views and beliefs that we hold within those principles.
