We the People: Mass Moments and Mass Movements

FAIN: BC-50243-05

Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities (Northampton, MA 01060-2406)
Ellen K. Rothman (Project Director: March 2005 to December 2008)

To support the second phase of the internet and radio project, Mass Moments, which highlights important moments in Massachusetts and national history, by adding additional resources for teachers, augmenting interactive features, and implementing a marketing plan; and presentation of a public symposium in October 2005 on the legacy of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The Mass. Foundation will continue one WTP project and begin another in 2005. 1) We will add features and functionality to “Mass Moments,” our electronic almanac of Massachusetts history, and implement a marketing plan for the website. The additions will be designed to increase use of the content-rich levels of the site. 2) We will bring together Civil Rights historians, journalists, and activists for a 40th-anniversary public symposium on the legacy of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The program will be modeled on our successful 2004 event, “Presidents in Perspective.”
