To support a grant program for institutions across the state of Michigan for activitites that reflect themes in American history and culture that connect events in Michigan to national events.

The Michigan Humanities Council will preserve and expand its current We the People grant program: 1) by focusing the Request for Proposal (RFP) on exploring and examining events and themes in American history and culture that were grounded in Michigan, so that communities will gain a deeper understanding of the principles that define them as people, a state and a nation; 2) by combining the Council's major grant program with its We the People funding, so that more WTP programs will be presented in communities throughout the state.
