To support the participation of historians, authors and other non-fiction writers in the South Dakota Humanities Council's third annual festival of books to be held in Deadwood, South Dakota, in September 2005.

SDHC requests history & tribal writing funding for the Third Annual Festival of Books September 23-25, 2005 in Deadwood, "Where Readers and Writers Rendezvous.” Candace Fleming (Ben Franklin's Almanac), Vine Deloria, Jr.(God is Red), Stephen Bloom (Postville: A Clash of Cultures in Heartland America) and 50 additional historians & other non-fiction writers will explore significant events in American history & culture. Presentations will range from the political life & legacy of South Dakotan George McGovern & founding father Benjamin Franklin to the SD jockey who won the Triple Crown.
