A More Perfect Union

FAIN: BC-50343-06

Wisconsin Humanities Council (Madison, WI 53705-5202)
Jessica E. Becker (Project Director: May 2006 to May 2009)

To support reading and discussion programs on the themes of "To Establish Justice" and "To Ensure Domestic Tranquility," and related programming at Wisconsin's annual book festival.

A More Perfect Union (AMPU) is a multi-year initiative that illuminates issues of national and local importance through the lens of American history and literature. Annual themes are explored through programs that include book discussions, lectures, panels, publications, and other initiatives, with the belief that the humanities provide a critical and common perspective for the discussion of challenging questions, and that the collective reflection on such questions strengthens communities.
