Fifth Annual Festival of Books

To support the annual South Dakota Festival of Books and the complementary programming. The Festival of Books will explore significant events in South Dakota and American history with over 50 authors and an audience in Deadwood, SD, estimated to be over 6,000.

SDHC requests funding for the Fifth Annual Festival of Books in Deadwood. With the theme "Where Readers and Writers Rendezvous," we expect 6,000 people to attend. Authors include Ivan Doig-“The Whistling Season,” Joseph M. Marshall III-“The Journey of Crazy Horse;” David Laskin-“The Children’s Blizzard;” Daniel James Brown—“Under a Flaming Sky,” David Callahan—“The Moral Center” & others who explore significant events in American history and culture.
