To support a musical heritage initiative focused on the "New Harmonies" travelling exhibition and the Illinois Music Heritage initiative, the speakers bureau, and a grant program to support We The People themes.

The Illinois Humanities council seeks $168,740 for We the People in Illinois to develop statewide programs through Museums on Main Street (MOMS), including the implementation of our Illinois Musical Heritage program; our speakers bureau; and grants. These programs will deal with the history of American music, Westward expansion, Illinois history, and other important topics in American studies. This programming will benefit rural and downstate audiences primarily, though not exclusively.
