Amerika Samoa Humanities Council (Pago Pago, AS 96799-5800)
Niualama E. Taifane (Project Director: May 2007 to June 2009)

The first history text to collect archival and other materials about Amerika Samoa. Pre-publication, the public will be engaged with the project through facilitated reading and discussions. It will be launched with a teacher institute for all secondary history teachers.

The Amerika Samoa Humanities Council would like to seek support for the final phase of its existing WTP project. The project was to develop a textbook that can be used as a main teaching resource in schools, and also for enjoyment by the general public. The book will document the historical events that took place in our first century under the U.S. Flag. The remaining activities in a nutshell are public discussions, final reading and editing, formatting, printing, and a teacher institute.
